For anyone who missed it, the 2019-W "burnished" ASE's went on sale today. I placed my order so my collection will once again be complete as soon as it arrives. :)

I'm on subscription so all I have to do is sit back and wait. Ah, technology.

Just a FYI, This year's LESPS is another first. It is the first year the sets are 99.9 % pure Silver, they were, 90%. Just thought I would make mention of this fact......

I did not think about that. Still not interested though. I already have the silver proof set I want.

Good reminder on the 99.9% thing. All the silver proof sets (dime/quarter/halves) are now 99.9% matching their big brother ASE

Right, still not enough to make me spend so much extra money for some upgraded packaging. It seems the U.S. mint is trying to drum up sales for annual products by including some unique coins with the sets (e.g., the W cents this year). They might be able to help sales of the LESPS with coins unique to that set...such as RP ATB Quarters or a D ASE or something.

Is the burnished ASE distinguishable from the "bullion" ASE to the human eye?

Quote:Is the burnished ASE distinguishable from the "bullion" ASE to the human eye? Yes, just look for the mint mark on the burnished ones. The finishes are very similar.

That comment is not helpful. Why isn't it helpful The so called burnished ASEs do have the W mintmark on their reverse and bullion ASEs don't have a mint mark. or Are you asking if someone can tell the difference between a bullion ASE and a burnished ASE by just looking at the obverse, i.e., is there a distinct difference in the appearance of the two coins? Not being an ASE collector, I can't say but I'm sure that one of the many ASE collectors in the forum can.

Hmmmmm...question asked...question answered...and helpful
Burnished vs. bullion
Different finish (burnished) but some look like bullion...most do not...Captain Obvious would just look at the W mintmark (or lack of) to differentiate.
