Fingers still crossed then Lars, hope it's the real deal. What a find this will turn out to be.

Pleasantly surprised to see a response in this thread, wasn't expecting that. Thanks for the update and best of luck! Wonder how much time this spent in limbo between specialists, seems like it's taking wayyy longer than it should.

Let me join in and thank Lars for posting an update, folks here sure hope to learn the conclusion of this story. I would guess it is precisely because it is so important a coin that it is taking such a long time, "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" type of thing.

Does anyone know if Christopher Salmon has seen it? His collection sold by Heritage was the "last of the Biggies" for Massachusetts Silver. Well... I can share this: I personally know someone whose association with Colonial American coins is well-known. There is a rumor that Wm. Sanderson gave his daughter her weight in Massachusetts Silver Shillings as a dowry. It's... not a rumor. What remains of the dowry is, I'm told, gorgeous.

10/13/2022 Quote: The investigation is still ongoing and I hope to have a definitive answer this year. And now it's a New Year and a next year. People in my life have come and gone; babies have been born, learned to walk and talk; my kid graduated from high school and is now a sophomore in college... Will we hit three years of this thread and still wait for an answer?
