It is a nice collectible coin but is worth $2 at most in this condition. The "W" on the front is actually the designer initials. The mint mark if any is on the reverse side. Certainly don't want to see you spending $$ getting coins appraised when they aren't worth it. Report this Post to the Staff

As to the "W" - this is the designer's initials "AW." All dimes of this type have that on them. Yours is a common date and a circulated specimen. It would likely sell for melt value. This is especially true of Mercury dimes, where certain details on the reverse are important in assessing a grade for it. Report this Post to the Staff
