1958D Lincoln Wheat Cent- die Anomaly on the 9 of the date.
I've been extremely busy with work and haven't had a chance to post much lately but thought I would post this and get opinions.

This one struck me as odd with very sharp edges to the anomaly on the inside leg of the 9. It almost closes the loop!
I just thought I'd share and there's not much chance of knowing what happened but any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

It seems to have a minor split upper serif and the top of the 8 seems to be "flat" or not fully round. Hopefully, my images capture this effect.

Thanks for looking and for any insight members can provide.

The top of the 8 looks like it may have taken a hit.
The 9 looks like a Die Chip that has been worn down.

Thanks everyone for taking a look and for the comments. A die chip is what I was thinking as well, but not from age or Die Deterioration since this one seems to be an EMDS.

I also posted this to another forum and Bob Piazza (of CC fame) replied :

This die is pretty famous. Since it was discovered, there has been disagreement between people as to if this is a misplaced D mintmark, or a well formed die chip.

I've been very busy as of late but will have a contest in the next couple of weeks and I've got a number of nice prizes lined up. Just have to figure out the details.

Thanks again, stay safe, and enjoy Fathers Day this weekend.
