Some obvious imperfections ... but how did they impact the grade?

Looks mint state, with decent luster and a good strike. A few hits in the fields and on the eagle are noticeable. MS-63 is the typical grade for an "average" uncirculated Morgan dollar. I'd call this one above average, so maybe a 63+ or 64. It's a nice-looking coin.

Interesting coin. There is a break in the luster on the cheek and hair above the ear, and on the eagle's breast. What I don't see is luster disruption in the open fields, which I would expect on a slider. My best guess is cabinet rub or die state as the device frost wore down.
If this coin is UNC, I'm in at MS-64. The obverse is borderline 63/64, but the reverse is borderline 64/65, so IMHO it would net to 64. If this coin comes in as a slider, it is superb for the grade.

Good eye appeal, it's a 64 all day long!

decent strike for a 79(P). broken luster across cheek. eye appeal is above average. MS63 boarder line 64. reverse may pull it over the line
