While the US Mint puts quite a premium on mint rolls of modern dollars, it doesn't seem that they will ever have much of a premium. I'm interested in the CC member opinions, on whether these coins will EVER have much value.

All rolls that I have acquired were at face value ... thoughts ?

They will remain face value until you look. Then most likely little more. The thrill is in the chase.

In the last 10/15 years I have done well with some us mint rolls from the mint.
The formative cents from 2009 sell at a large premium today. I sold one box at a premium back in the day with a time stamp that seemed to be where one of the errors was being found. I have done well with Kennedy halves. One set in particular sold for five times purchase price. The only thing I can think of was the time/date stamp on the box was very early in the scheduled production. I have done well with the Sacagawea and native dollars.

I had bank rolls of Presidential dollars that I searched and still have quite a few. (Trades available in this forum!) Of these I have a few mid choice examples that may sell for a few times over face value.

The bank rolls of dimes from a couple of the satin years have done very well.

My 2009 nickel roll is by far the stand out winner. I pulled one bank roll somewhere, somehow. It seems to be regularly selling between $160-$200.

Spotty results. Kennedy and native dollars are worth us mint premiums historically for me. Know your time stamps and research them. Also be part of the auto ship so you have a chance at early production and ahead of potential sell outs. All the new series' are a gamble.

Look for extenuating circumstances for bank rolls. Mintages, errors, changes in design or anything that may be out of the normal production traditions.

As with everything you need to find the right buyer. I for one have little interest in modern clad coinage, except for the Innovation Dollars and some commemorative releases, so I wouldn't be the customer, but there is always a market for older coins in Mint State, like Captain Kurt above shows. I really liked the Lincoln Commemorative cents and the westward series nickels, so I have proofs of each.

On the common date P coins you have to realize that many won't be worth much until a few years/decades from now. So if space is a premium I wouldn't save boxes of them. But for example the Women's quarter, the S mint rolls are only available in the 3 pack, so they might be limited in the future and worth much more than the P/D rolls.

I've been trying to put away a couple of mint rolled halves every year. I'm hoping to get a good premium in years to come. Some times I will break open a mint roll in hopes of getting a higher grade coins. Sometimes it works in my favor.

Thank You all for your feedback ... I think I'll continue to use the "shiny" dollars for tips and for the kids, they love them.

Have a great Weekend !

1965 to date BU circulating coinage tends to exist in only two ways; scarce or distressingly common. 1979-D cents are extremely common but '79-S SBA's are tough.

People started collecting circulating moderns when the states coins came out in 1999 so most of the later dates will probably be readily available but I have no doubt some will not be. Even though there is very little demand 2014 half dollars are beginning to emerge as being in shorter supply. Nice attractive BU's from '06-'10 will probably be tough for all the larger denominations. S-mint quarters could prove interesting since sales were low and many buyers are saving only the nicest specimens.

It takes time for such things to shake out and low demand just means it takes even longer.

These are very unlikely to have a premium at any point in the future. Uncirculated or mint state is the only condition these coins are found in. I purchase them to collect them.

I don't necessarily disagree but '99 SBA's are wholesaling around $6 and a chGem '81-S brings hundreds. These only exist in Unc.
