I am thinking of collecting coins that are from the same year but different designs. Coins like: 1909 Indian head and Lincoln Cent. 1883 Shield and V nickel (both cents and no cents versions). 1913 Buffalo and V nickel (if I can ever afford the V nickel.) 1938 Buffalo and Jefferson nickel. 1837 Capped Bust and Seated dimes. 1838 Capped Bust and Seated quarter. 1916 Barber and Standing Liberty quarter ( I would like a ms Standing quarter for obvious reasons) 2021 ATB and WCTD quarter. This one counts since the front was changed enough (They moved the united states of america and quarter dollar to the back, they moved liberty from the left of washington on the ATB Quarter to above him on the wctd quarter, they also moved in god we trust from the right of washington on the ATB Quarter to the left of him on the wctd quarter). 1839 Capped Bust and Seated half dollar. The following coins do not count: The 2009 Lincoln Cent since only the back was changed. The 2004-05 Jefferson nickel since only the back was changed (yes the front was changed but not until 2004). The state hood quarters as only the back was changed (yes the front was changed but not until 1999). The ATB Quarters with the exception of one (see above) Can anyone think of any I missed. No gold coins as those are a bit out of my price range.

Are you just interested in US coins or others as well?

U.S. large cents overlapped the Flying Eagle cent and there were other Barber overlaps in 1916, too.

Gets a lot more complicated if you think about, for example, the multi-year overlap between U.S. Half Dimes and nickel 5 cent pieces, or Trade dollars and standard U.S. dollar coins.

Hey Pacificoin I will add these to my list: 1916 Barber dime / 1916 Mercury dime1857 Large Cent / 1857 Flying Eagle centI will not do these ones: 1795 Silver Dollar Flowing Hair / Draped Bust 1793 Chain and Wreath / 1793 Liberty HD Cent Only because I do not care for them. I might do these if the price is correct: 1873 Seated dollar / 1873 Trade dollar1878 Morgan dollar / 1878 Trade dollar1865 3 Cent Silver / 1865 3 Cent Nickel 1839 Coronet Head / 1839 Braided Large Cent 1913 Liberty nickel is NOT A legitimate circulation issue . I know but that does not mean it does not count. Best have very deep pockets for a mint state 1916 Standing Quarter . I know but I am willing to wait.

Morgan & Peace dollars, 1921, is another one. Hey halfamind I will not do these ones since I do not care for dollar coins. I will collect them as part of the dollar series but not as part of the design change.

Sounds like it could get really expensive ! Certainly a novel idea for a collection . Once saw a first and last issue set along the same Idea . Was an eye popper!

Hey jacrispies I might do the 1807 and 1839 coins. I will not do the 1796 coins since I do not have any interest in them. The 1798 do not count since only the backs change. 1796 Liberty Cap and Draped Bust cents 1798 Large Eagle and Small Eagle dollars (not sure if this counts, only the reverse changes) 1807 Draped Bust and Capped Bust halves 1839 Capped Bust and Seated halves
