Is the engraver's line from the middle arm of the (ON)E to its base a "die-marker"?

In my (limited) experience in authentication, I think the MM looks good. But to take another tack: are there any other fans of "originality" here? I know my 16-D here is grittier than some folks like, but I LOVE the originality and the gray dirt on my coin, and the (minor) orange and green metallic toning. I just wanted to provide this for the sake of comparison - but I'd never discourage anyone from acquiring a key coin in a higher grade!

The mint mark does not look right. Discoloration in the area as well.

I submitted it to ANACS. Got an email from them today. It straight graded at VF-30.

Congratulations! Figured it would pass...after doing the simple analysis technique above. Had it not I would have questioned the grading company. The verifiable facts don't lie but humans make errors.

I didn't have the coin in hand when I posted. I was fairly sure it was legit. After reading everyone's comments I did a little more research and realized I hadn't checked the shape inside the D. That checked out in hand and gave me the confidence to buy. Didin't think it would grade that high though.
