I want to continue the tradition of celebrating the 500th post with a contest. This is just a little guessing game that deals with my personal coin trivia. Rules: - Open to all members with 50+ posts.
- Only one entry per member.
- Duplicate guesses are acceptable for individual questions as long as all five are not duplicated. (I will try to compile a list as we go.)
- The most correct answers will win.
- If no one guesses the exact correct answers, the closest one (not going over, if applicable) will count as correct.
- If there is a tie, I'll figure something out.
- Decision of the judge is final (that would be me).
Deadline:Contest concludes at 12:01 a.m. EDT on March 15, 2009 (that's basically Saturday night at midnight in Michigan). See guesses as of noon Tuesday, top of page 2. Prize:Five somewhat beat up but nevertheless silver Roosevelt dimes: 1946, 1957, 1962D, 1964 and 1964D. (See photo below.) The questions:1. My Whitman album of 20th century U.S. type coins, which I am filling with EF or better specimens, has only one empty hole. Which specific type do I still need?
2. I have Lincoln cents in Whitman folders. If you start in 1960 and go backwards, what is the year of the first empty hole you would come to?
3 I started acquiring uncirculated U.S. mint sets in 2004 but decided to pick up sets from previous years. What is the earliest year in my unbroken string of mint sets?
4. I keep every Susan B. Anthony dollar, Bicentennial quarter, and Wheat penny I come across, but there is another denomination of coin (from certain years) that I hoard. What is it?
5. How many complete sets of State Quarters have I collected? Please label your guesses with the question number. Good luck.
