Salata, you did the right thing by not buying that "coin". These fakes are all over the internet.

Thanks to those who pointed out the proof it's not a genuine Silver Eagle. At that low $2.88 price, way below spot melt, most should know it's not real.

This screams fake.
Hopefully you didn't pay anything for it.

Salata, People Here are Very Experienced, as you can see. It would NOT be a good idea for People to Reference This site, for Counterfeiting Purposes, As Noted Above, " For Numerous Reasons,".. Never, Repeat Never, show Your Full Hand, .... The " coin " exhibits Many, Many Details, that an Expert, Can clearly detect... Best Wishes... PS, You have some friends..... We Did Not .....

Quote: I find myself thinking that this forum would be a wonderful place for foreign counterfeiters to have their counterfeit products reviewed to see how they're progressing. IN NO WAY should this forum be referenced by counterfeiters. Most counterfeit coins are extremely hard to detect, this one wasn't. I don't want any counterfeiter to learn what we look for. There are other tells on the coin posted, I just posted a few obvious ones. I'll keep the others to myself. But for most coins the counterfeiter always misses something. YOU have to be on the lookout for what that something.

I bought 23 of the 2015 eagles and and about 8 of the 2014. That is defiantly not a us mint 2015 silver eagle. Bought mine in 2016. Very crudely made. Not even close to an original. Fake.

salata, my eyes see numerous ills with that stinker of a coin.
for the past few days I've been returning my ASEs to their respective dansco albums. I've looked at dozens and dozens of perfect & nearly perfect silver eagles, and then tonight I see that coin you posted and it just screams 'fake'. thanks for sharing that!

Quote: where does the feather cover the shield? Look at the back of the heraldic eagle on the right side of the shield there is a single feather that cover a little of the top part of the shield. It's easy to miss but it's there.
