@izz, also that is not a W mintmark, but rather the designer's initials.

Ok yep that is no problem at all—I'm just trying to help you learn. As you have found out, the mint marks for this series are on the reverse, just to the left of the bottom of the branch.

If your dime had a mint mark, it would be on the reverse near the "E" in ONE.

Oh no, I sure hope we don't open up the " no mint mark error" vector. No mm = Being minted in Philadelphia.

@IzzyLizzy, https://www.usmint.gov/learn/collec...s/mint-marksSpecific to your post, other than the 1942-45 War Nickels, coins minted in Philadelphia had no mint mark until 1979, and cent coins have only had them in 2017. The W mint mark didn't appear on a coin until 2019. The designer's initials you're seeing are actually AW for Adolph Weinman. A lot of confusion has been created by all the "get rich from pocket change" junk surrounding " no mint mark" coins, but those are properly called "No S" and were only a handful of Proof years/denominations where a die without the S was accidentally used to strike proofs. Perhaps you knew that already.

ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!
