As I have said many times my collection basically has a Commemorative / Type theme

With all of the changes coming it looks like 2026 might be a good time to wind down parts of my collection

I have 6 Caps binders and they are pretty close to being full and I currently don't have any desire to expand my collections into what I assume will be the future offerings

This should help clarify my thought process

Circulated Type Coins - with the exception of the 2026 releases I pretty much have what I consider to be a pretty complete Type Proof Collection of pennies, nickels, dimes and half dollars

Quarters - I collect the silver proofs and have no interest in continuing with them after 2026, I was pretty bored with the American Women Quarters and have zero interest in getting the Youth Sport series

Half Dollars - I might get the 2027-2030 that celebrate sports performed by individuals with disabilities, but only because I have some empty slots on a page

Saq Dollars - I'll still get the Proof Native American dollars and any Presidential releases. I have room to finish the American Innovation Proof Set if it continues, but if it doesn't, I won't be heart broken

Modern Commemorative Dollar / Half Dollars - I pretty much have most of the coins that I want in this catagory

Silver Eagles - I was very excited to build an ASE Type Set, but unfortunately it didn't take long. The variety of finishes and designs elements such as the edge lettering on the 2016s made them very interesting to me

BUT then came the privy marks. At first I thought they we cool but it looks like the mink might saturate the market with them so their fate in collection is dim.

If they go overboard with the concept the Star and Flying Eagle ASEs might end up in a tub with the rest of my bullion

NGC PF 69 Collection - This is an odd facet of my collection and basically it is just an small sub collection of my favorite graded and or scarce coins, I have acquired all but 3 of the coins I targeted for this collection

Circulated Type Set - I have an Intercept Shield Type Binder that I have been filling with circulated coins. Grade isn't that important and I actually clean or polish the coins that go into it

This will probably be the only thing I continue to complete after 2026

I'm pretty much in the same boat, the annual sets don't have the same appeal to me as they once did, the price increases and not so exciting (IMHO) subject matters to celebrate. The overuse of special features for the ASE have cheapened the allure for me. There is still a desire to collect the ASE, but I am apprehensive of the future. I will remain optimistic for the 2026 designs for the 250th but will re-evaluate for 2027.

I remain committed to keeping my ASE set current. I also try staying optimistic about it.
I haven't heard a peep about another bullion ASE with a privy. It seemed like the rumor about the eagle privy came soon after the star privy was readily available on the open market. By now, I would have been sure there would have been gossip about another release if they were doing one. So possibly it was just a flash (or two) in the pan.
The Limited Edition set is gone after this year, for good or bad. The San Francisco issue is gone after this year. For good or bad.
The 3 military issues should be just for this year.
So what does that leave us for next year? At least for the ASE collector, all we really know for sure is the bullion, the W Proof, the W uncirculated, and for the completists, the Congratulations set.
Possibly they won't do a single thing on ASEs for the 250th, we just don't know.

I would not bet against it. Not when they seem to reach for ways to create multiple ASE offerings every year.

I have a feeling that it's going to be "250th Bell" privy marks for everyone

I'm in for small dollars, that's about it. I'm done with the quarter series and it's the perfect jumping off point for the halves. No interest in anything else (especially anything sports-related) except the occasional commemorative, depending on the theme and design.

I agree with jbuck! With the current popularity of the Silver Eagle, it would be a major missed opportunity for the Mint if the Silver Eagle sat out the 250th!

I think it's a good idea to reevaluate one's collection from time to time - I've done it a few times and have been glad I did!

It doesn't make much sense to continue collecting pieces that no longer hold unforced interest. The hobby has the potential to be too expensive for that - collect only what excites and motivates!

it's a prudent thing to do, maybe annually.

i reevaluated my collection during the 2011-2015 timeframe, when I was not collecting. I wanted to get back into it, but I needed a bit more work/job security. I lacked the $$ until 2012. I didn't really dive in again until late2015/early 2016.

same here. too many 'special' coins issued too often makes them not so special. less is better... I suppose the mint would disagree.

yes. I became very annoyed by that eventually. that's one of the things that made me stop my collection as the Type l reverse series ended.

I'll keep collecting the ASE moving forwards, but the more the mint puts out each year, means that I'll buy less of their other products.

20 years ago, I collected Canada's Silver Maple Leaf coins, including the various privy-marked editions - I found them to be an interesting novelty. After a time, however, the program moved into what I call its "expoitive" phase.

While always struck in relatively small numbers, some of the private releases became extremely limited and only available to those making a significant donation to the coin's sponsor or paying an exhorbitant issue price. At that point, the fun of collecting the series evaporated for me and I stopped collecting all issues. It's too bad, but when the "greed factor" becomes center stage, I move on to other venues.
