I got this at the bank yesterday, (2009 A $100 Bill Serial # LH 00000003 A). I was told it was extremely rare and was offered over 35 times face value on the spot. Wondering if it's worth putting up for auction?

Tried to upload image but failed for some reason. Any ideas why?

I don't know how much, but that would definitely be worth more than face value.

Absolutely! I can't remember what the $100 2009 serial numbered 00000001 sold for but Heritage was saying around $15K, I know they sold all 1's and all 2's in the $3-4K range, any bill with a serial number under 00000100 is worth a premium, the $100's are not as collected just due to the face value, but the collectors that want them have the money to pay. You can check with Heritage directly for a fair deal, or CoolSerialNumbers.com I don't have an interest in either, but I do know and deal with people at Heritage all the time, they are very fair and some of the most reputable dealers around. They sold a series 2009 #000000016 for $600 but it was in CU-67 PQ grade as well, so a far cry from #000000001 but #2 is as low as you can get past the #1 pretty amazing considering how many $100's are produced (they make them all not to far from me, in Fort Worth, TX) They make more $100's than any other bill right now. The bill must be in as good as possible condition, no folds, no tears, no pinholes, etc. to command the highest amount. Heritage website is http://www.ha.com

Welcome to CCF savatreatabvr

Prices for low serial numbered notes are partially dependent on condition. USA Rare had a run of serial numbers 1 through 10.
All of them with really nice grades. I was offered serial #12 for $900, and passed. Would love to see front & rear photos of the entire note.

Full pictures of the front and back would be helpful. Condition means a lot, too.

I still think you should have taken the 3500$. Since it is not a #1 note it is not worth anywhere near 5 figures. Besides, you'll lose a significant amount when you pay an auction fee of around 15% of the hammer when the auction house settles up with you.

The auction house nails both the Buyer and Seller with fees. I can also assure you that the Buyer reduces his bid amount to compensate for the
fee he expects he is going to have to pay if he wins the auction. So, you kinda sorta end up paying both fees when you look at the big picture.

Good luck!

Nice note, we'd love to see full pics, but I doubt it's worth anything close to $3,500.

Well, congrats on a very lucky bank find.
I would go back to that bank and see if they have any more. Bills often travel in packs (see what I did there)
And of course condition is super important. So don't even handle the bill. Just put it in a hard plastic bill protector.
