Poll Question
I'm curious to see where our CCF is on the Dansco 7070 completion road. (I'm thinking we need another 7070 "Days of..." thread in the not too distant future, and I'm gauging the possible participation level!!)

Im doing a slabbed type set but its essentially the 7070 with a few added modern coins and the no drapes and no stars for the seated liberties. I did have an album before switching over to the slabbed version and had the 7070 been available I would have had one if that counts

Most of the easy holes filled with a couple of the tough ones. Gold page about halfway there with the big ones filled

I was 100% sure I was doing one but with no release date in sight I will start a PCGS slabbed version this weekend buying at a local show.

Nope, no 7070 for me. All my type coins are slabbed. The slabs won't fit into the holes in a 7070 The real reasons all my coins are slabbed and not in a 7070 are: -- the 7070 doesn't cover ALL the designs. -- I'm not going to crack out 3 and 4 figure coins and lose the value that slabs add to coins. -- my type set coins are listed in NGC Registry Sets (1793-1964 for silver/nickel/copper coins) and (1834-1933 for gold coins). Since they are all in a safe deposit box in a bank the Registry Sets are my only way of showing them. And I DO like to show them off.

My actual 7070 album is filled with replicas. Whereas my collection is all slabbed and nestled in trays within a weather-resistant case.

I am in the process of transitioning from 7070 album to slabs. I'm mostly there, and would be delighted to participate - if slabs are allowed!
In the meantime, I've populated my 7070 with attractive problem coins that I just couldn't resist (cleaned, holed, counterstamped...). They may not be gradable, but some of them are pretty interesting, and I would be glad to share them.

The NGC registry has a nice 7070 type set. Here is one I was looking at earlier: http://coins.www.collectors-society...&Ranking=allDoes anyone have a suggestion for which PCGS registry set that is most like the 7070? I have looked over there and it appears there are many "type" sets to choose from, some short and some with every possible type coin.

Quote: The NGC registry has a nice 7070 type set. Here is one I was looking at earlier: Any resemblance between a 7070 type set and an NGC Registry Type Set is purely coincidental. The NGC set has a third to a half more coins. For instance the 7070 has only two SLQ types; NGC has three. I can't comment on PCGS.

But the nice part about type sets is that they can be anything you want. Make your own definition. A birthyear set is a form of type set (all coin from a year of your selection).

From what I've seen the Basic U.S. Coin Design Set (1792-present) is by far the easiest to complete. For the most part the PCGS sets are much more comprehensive. The Complete U.S. Coin Design Set (1792-present) is probably the closest to the 7070 though it does have the budget busting 1793 Half Cent and both 1793 large cents in it. You also have to have an Early Dollar in it. Theres a few other differences but its pretty close for not being a direct copy

You needed a >75% to <100% choice, as mine in 78.9473684% complete (60/76). I chose the 50-75 option, close enough I guess.

No 7070 for me. I collect my type coins raw and put them into 2X2s. I do not care for album makers that tell me what constitutes a 'complete' type set. That is MY decision! And I can change my mind at any time. Your opinion may vary.
