I haven't seen this posted yet, if it has forgive me. I'm sure we've discussed fake Silver Eagles before however I don't think we've mentioned 2015-W's being among them. http://www.numismaticnews.net/artic...les-reportedThis article has excellent images showing close-ups of the fakes and the same area on a genuine coin. -MV

I saw that this morning. Too bad these cannot be traced back to the source and send them all to youknowwhere.

Interesting article but it sure doesn't help the situation when Numismatic News ends up advertising where they can be bought in the comments that a reader made. Crazy!

Of all the attributes dead giveaway is the date. No real 2015 ASEs has ever had that font. It looks like a tribute 'proof' that's offer in the large commercial papers for $9.95. Probably made in China, as usual, and you could probably get a dozen on ebay for $20 US. Sad situation really.

Looks like the lack of feather detail on the reverse, lack of initials on the obverse, and the serifed/open "Y" are the big giveaways.
I'd like to think I'd be able to spot a fake with that many giveaways (especially now that I know what to look for).

Every single fake ASE of ANY date ALWAYS has the flat left foot. Every one. I've seen nearly every date between 1995-2015 with minor differences here and there, but... ...They ALL have the flat left foot.

The Site they mention in the notice sells just about every type collectible coin replica all of them not marked "COPY". Everything from Lincoln Cent to tokens. I was amazed that they can legally sell these fakes. The coin market is getting flooded with fakes! I suspect the Morgan I purchased recently was originally purchased through that site. This makes me very cautious when buying ANY coin. its sad.

My god, that eye. She looks like the walking dead. More like a zombuck version of an.ase And Mox is correct about the feet. The best ammo to spot a fake ASE is to study the sandals on real ones

First I saw of this, but is anyone really surprised? I've been saying for years now, that the Chinese are going to be the ruination of coin collecting. This is really going to hurt the bullion trade/collecting as well. I wish I'd sold all of my silver eagles back when silver was high, for I feel silver rounds/eagles are going to get killed.
