I found this copper 1943 S in a roll of pennies I bought from either the local Native American Casino or its Gas Station. I'm guessing it came from the gas station only because the casino limits customers to only two rolls of each denomination. I only got my two from the casino upon leaving but bought ten more rolls from the gas station when we gassed up.

Looks like it was a 1953 S.

@numis, first welcome to CCF. Second, with that hit to the top left corner of the third digit in the date, it sure looks like the top of a number four now. I agree with @tunn that this coin was minted 10 years later though.

Looks too damaged to be graded in my opinion can still certify its authenticity but would it have to go to auction to determine its value? Being there's no clear "pricing" scale its highly "valuable" right? in other words very rare and highly sought in any condition ie: raw, certified authentic, graded.
Rest in Peace

I got a neck ache trying to look at that coin up-right.

I turned it around for you..
The '1' is almost obliterated, the '9' took a hit to almost turn it onto a '0', the third number most likely a '5' and the top got smashed down to the weird angle we see.

Certainly not a copper 1943-S, just a mangled coin of some other date.

Agree with all above--mangled copper Lincoln cent--not a '43 S on a copper planchet. Didn't we see something similar come across this forum a few weeks ago?

Looks to be a 1953-S to me.

Amazing how many horribly damaged "1943-S" cents show up on this forum. This is at least the 2nd one in the last 2 weeks!

I saw one, one time that was a copper poor of the obverse of a obverse cent. The reverse had no design, just bumpy surface. (I've kicked myself for years not saving that image. It probably is still out there on the web somewhere?)
