Sorry, this is not a DDO, more like DDD. In the VV example you posted you can clearly see the separation on the tails of the 1, 9 and 6 - on your coin you cannot.

I have to agree. I'm not seeing a DDO, but DDD. Good luck searching!

Unfortunately, I'm in the no camp on this DDO as well.

It's critical to start with the description of the doubling and then move to confirm it via the die markers, if needed.

In this instance the description is "Strong spread on LIBERTY and date" and I don't see any unusual spread on either of those.

Lacking any spread on either of those devices, any of similarities in the devices or fields are superfluous.

I don

From the closeups, it looks like a nice coin but that is all it is, no DDO.

The pictures definitely do not match. The date shows it most clearly, notice how the true doubled die shows the separation in the doubling on the center of the numbers, particularly visible on the 9 and the 6. Your coin does not show this, yours has the shallow "ghost" doubling from worn dies.

Not DDD, but just extreme die wear. (The DDD obverse didn't start until the later 1980's zinc cents. This is pre that time period)

The 9 to me is the pick up pointe on this one. Compare VV to yours. See how it's spread to the east?
