So purchased a 2024 ASE from APMEX and having sitting on a stand on my desk, noticed about a month ago that coin is toning, pretty dramatically. I have done nothing to it, I've only touch the rim, it just sits under my computer, not in direct sunlight. Thoughts? Seems abnormal, but looks great.

Is it getting heat from the computer? That would probably do it.

No, not getting any heat, just open to the air in my house, displayed for eye appeal, no other coins have done this. Do some coins tone this quickly?

Silver exposed to the elements will oxidized. Heat, humidity and time is all it takes.

Definitely understand that, thank you, just finding it odd that in a little over 2-3 months it looks like this and the Maple next to it is still shinny and clear.

What are the stand and your desk made from? Wood, plastic?

Both stands are made of plastic, also purchased from APMEX and it sits on a metal table that is built to elevate a computer screen.

That is some serious toning! I wonder what's causing that vertical line on the right side of the reverse?

May have been exposed to something before/while being owned by APMEX. The straight line is unusual, suggesting something slightly acidic (like a sheet of paper) laid across it.

Love Good Natural Toning.......

Storage areas, Cool, Warm, Sunlit, Air Conditioners, Humidity, along with time..., All bring age or Oxidation, IF not controlled ,..... Thanks for Sharing....PS,

Do I see a Die Chip in the letter " A " , In Dollar, on the reverse,, Looks like it runs Through the Top of The A......

Also, The " E " , in One, on the Reverse, Line under it, Looks like a Mess...?

Thanks everyone and I will look closely at the "A" and the "E".

Just amazes me that it happened so quickly, only my milk spots seem to come on so fast.
